Mufari Group – Food Retail (Goma, North Kivu Province, Dem. Rep. of Congo)
Nsimire is treasurer for the Mufari group, a courageous entrepreneur, and mother of seven children, all of whom go to school. Her spouse is a teacher at a public school.
Nsimire sells foodstuffs. She stocks up in the countryside. She started this business with her own funds that she received from her husband. This new loan will enable her to buy 15 bags of corn.
Nsimire pays too much in taxes, when she travels, to armed groups operating in the regions where she goes. With additional funds, Nsimire does not have to travel as often thereby allowing her to keep a larger portion of her income. It should be noted that another client is holding her baby (in the photo).
