Lucia M – Clothing and fabric (Guatemala)
Lucia is a 36 year old single mother who studied through her second year in primary school. She has two children, one of whom is in school. She sells clothing for women, a business she started with initial support from her family. She requested a loan in order to purchase additional supplies: cuts of fabric, aprons, sweaters and huipils (Guatemalan indigenous dresses) which can help her business grow and have better sales. Her hopes for the future are to continue improving the quality of life of her family.
The loan is being handled by Asociacion de Desarrollo Integral Rural (ASDIR or the Association for the Development of Rural Communities), a community-based organization working to promote development in rural Guatemala.
