Blanca M – Biochemistry (Paraguay)
Blanca’s drive and determination are incredible. Every morning, she gets up at dawn to travel from her city of Carapeguá to Asuncion. She studies and works all day at the Universidad Nacional, and then returns home at night. Every day, she makes a round trip of almost 150 kilometers. And Blanca’s course load is intense: she is studying to get her doctorate in biochemistry. The books required to study for this degree are extremely expensive and Blanca, like many other students, doesn’t have the money to pay for them. A loan will allow her to purchase the necessary textbooks, opening the door for this super-motivated student to excel in her studies and ultimately fulfill her dream of doing research in a bio-chemical laboratory.
