Amy’s Group – Clothing (Senegal)
Amy’s Group group comprises women from the same area united by good social relations.
The group leader, Khady, is a 54-year-old married mother of eight children – four sons and four daughters. She is standing all the way on the left in the photo, dressed in a large stippled green boubou with her hand raised. She has run a business selling various items for a long time, and has good experience in this field. Her new loan will allow her to buy pairs of shoes and incense, which she will resell at retail in her area. The profits realized from this business allow her not only to take care of her children’s nutritional and educational needs, but also to strengthen her savings at the local village loan fund.
